to solve my similiar problem.
I’ll keep it short: contact a broker who specializes in health insurance and have him get quotes for you. Visit NAHU (see below) to find someone in your area (NAHU is the professional association for agents/brokers like me who specialize in health insurance). Some additional tips:
1. Stick with "name brand" companies, like Blue Cross, Humana, United Healthcare, Aetna, etc. (there’s a lot of junky plans that look good on paper, but who won’t pay if you have a really big $$ claim, which is, after all, the only reason to have insurance).
2. Treat your "insurance" as insurance, not health care "financing." That is, buy a plan with a big deductible ($3-5,000) and save your money because it will be less expensive. Even with a big deductible like that you’ll still find plans that have relatively low doctor and drug copayments.
Which plan is best (and least expensive) will depend on a lot of variables: age, sex, health, where you live, etc., etc., so it’s hard to tell you "who’s the best." That’s why you need to talk w/ someone who knows the "market" in your area.
Good luck!
